Rocket Man

ROCKET MAN is a serious comedy about the road not taken. Donny Rowan has placed everything he owns on his front lawn, along with a sign that reads: “Here’s my life. Make an offer.” He has cut a skylight into his attic and placed his E-Z Boy recliner underneath—where he can sit, staring at the stars. Somewhere in the universe, Donny believes, is a place where all the roads we never chose converge. ROCKET MAN explores one man’s obsessive desire to find this “parallel world” —and the profound effect of his decision on his family and friends.

- Buck: Male, Donny’s best friend, 50s – 60s
- Trisha: Female, Donny’s daughter, teens
- Rita: Female, Donny’s ex-wife, 40s or similar age to Donny
- Louise: Female, Donny’s friend and co-worker, 40s or similar age to Donny
HOW TO PREPARE
Please prepare a 1-2 minute memorized monologue from a dramatic or comedic source. Actors will sign up for a 15-minute time slot. During monologue performances, Daniel will ask actors to make changes and talk through character choices. Initial monologue auditions will take place in front of a panel consisting of the director, stage manager, design crew members, and/or Hyperion staff. Callbacks will consist of readings from the script. When notified of a callback, actors will receive the script readings to prepare. Callbacks will either take on Tuesday, March 4th OR Wednesday, March 5th, depending on audition turnout.
